Flip Time

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

CBS News just projected that Ohio will go to Senator Obama.

That’s a biggie. Ohio has 20 electoral votes and is considered a key battleground state.

But it’s not just that, the numbers that are coming in look like the state has flipped from how President Bush won in 2004.

Just saw Katie Couric go over the numbers, will try and find a hard copy for you to analyze.

Vaughn Ververs of cbsnews.com writes on his blog that Bob  Schieffer says this is devastating news for McCain. “I think Barack Obama will be the president of the United States,” said Bob Schieffer upon hearing the news.

It’s just after 8:30 on election night and sixteen states have been projected by CBS News. Senator Obama has a total of 102 projected electoral votes in comparison to Senator McCain’s projected 54.

Tonight is, as mot of you know, a numbers game with getting the right combination of electoral votes from states. But, I think it’s also important to note the popular vote of the entire nation. Right now, the candidates are looking at an even split of votes. 7,292,680(50%) v. 7,278,716 (50%).

This scenario was floating around among political experts.

An electoral landslide but a very close popular vote.

We still have all the western states and most of the mid-western states to close their polls, so let’s keep that in mind.
